Dedicated development

When the process is the advantage, the system cannot be generic

Some companies' edge is exactly what no off-the-shelf system covers. For those we work with an assigned team and deliveries every two weeks.

When it makes sense

First we tell you if you don't need it

Custom development costs more and takes longer. If the problem fits one of the eleven catalogue solutions, the honest thing is to say so and start there: it ships sooner, costs less and can grow later.

That said, there are cases where adapting the company to standard software means losing exactly what makes it competitive. Here are the signs:

  • The workflow that gives you an edge doesn't exist in any product on the market.
  • An off-the-shelf system was tried and the company had to adapt to the software, not the other way round.
  • Systems that don't talk to each other need to be integrated.
  • Volume or business rules break any standard solution.
  • The company needs to own the code and the data, with no licences depending on a third party.

What we build

Three shapes a dedicated project can take

Almost no project is just one of these three. Typically the web platform and the mobile app share the same foundation and the same data.

Websites and web platforms

A website is the set of pages hosted on your own domain that show your information, sell your products or offer your services. We build them to measure, responsive and designed to be found in search engines, with your company's visual identity and no bought templates.

  • Bespoke, responsive, mobile-first design
  • SEO best practice built into the structure, not patched on
  • A panel so your team updates content without depending on anyone
  • Domain, security certificate and hosting included

Mobile apps

A mobile app is one that runs on the user's phone or tablet. We build for Android and iOS, and publish on Google Play and the App Store under your company's account or ours, whichever you prefer.

  • Android, iOS and cross-platform development
  • Publishing and managing updates on the app stores
  • Notifications, geolocation and offline use when needed
  • The same database as the web platform, with no duplicated information

Software suites

When a company needs several modules working on the same foundation — sales, stock, customers, admin — what it needs is not four separate systems but a suite: one platform with role-based permissions and a single source of truth.

  • Modules sharing the same database
  • Permissions by role and department
  • Dashboards with consolidated information
  • Rolled out in stages: the most urgent workflow first

How we work

Four stages and no black boxes

At no point in the project do you have to take progress on trust: you see it.

  1. Stage 1

    Discovery

Meetings with the people who will use the system, not only with whoever signs. That is where written scope, a fixed price and a launch date come from.

  2. Stage 2

    Design

Screens are drawn before they are coded. Moving a button in a sketch is far cheaper than moving it in production.

  3. Stage 3

    Build

Working deliveries every two weeks. Each one can be opened and used: progress is seen on screen, not in a report.

  4. Stage 4

    Launch and support

Training, migration of historical data, launch into production on our infrastructure and a named person for support.

What you receive

What stays in your company's hands

  • The system running in production, with a domain and a security certificate.
  • The complete source code and the database.
  • Technical documentation and the user manual.
  • Training for the team that will use it.
  • Mobile apps published on Google Play and the App Store, if the project includes them.

Frequently asked questions

What everyone asks before signing

  • How much does custom development cost?

It depends on scope, which is why discovery is free: without understanding the workflow there is no serious figure. What we do guarantee is that the price is fixed before the first line of code.

  • How long does it take?

The first usable version usually ships in eight to twelve weeks. The strategy is always to put the most urgent workflow into production and grow from there.

  • Can I start small?

That's what we recommend. A system that ships in two months and gets used beats a perfect one that ships in a year.

  • Does it integrate with what I already have?

Yes. Invoicing, banks, payment providers, management systems: if it can be connected, we connect it.

  • Who owns the code?

Your company. Code, database and documentation. If tomorrow you want another supplier, nothing ties you down.

  • And after launch?

There is support with a named contact and improvements planned quarterly, for as long as the service runs.
